Promoting trade cooperation between Vietnam and Laos
The 5th Ho Chi Minh City and Friendship Provinces and Cities Exhibition in Savannakhet opened on April 5
in Savannakhet province in Central Laos to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam and Laos.
From April 4-7, in Savannakhet province in Central Laos, the 5th Ho Chi Minh City and Friendship Provinces
and Cities Exhibition in Savannakhet took place.
The event was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet province;
representatives of leaders of provinces and cities of Vietnam and Laos; representatives of the Savannakhet
provincial government and many businesses participating in the exhibition.
In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Tran Phuong Tran, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of
Ho Chi Minh City, said that this is an important event in promoting cooperation between localities of the two countries.
Through each exhibition, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos, especially between Ho Chi Minh
City and Savannakhet province, has become closer and developed sustainably and long-term.
Ms. Nguyen Tran Phuong Tran believes that with the active participation of businesses, this exhibition will continue
to open up new opportunities, contributing to the sustainable development of the two countries.
On the Lao side, Mr. Saensak Soulisak, Deputy Governor of Savannakhet Province, shared that the event not only
demonstrated the importance of opening up a comprehensive cooperation market but also created opportunities
for businesses and manufacturers to meet, exchange, and share experiences on how to attract investment and
connect trade between parties, while enhancing the promotion of local products and goods to a large number of tourists.
The 5th Ho Chi Minh City and Friendship Provinces and Cities Exhibition in Savannakhet has a scale of about 250 booths,
attracting more than 50 businesses from 7 localities of Laos, along with Vietnamese expatriates in Australia, Thailand, Laos,
Cambodia and more than 130 businesses from Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Long An, Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City....
The products on display are mainly handicrafts, jewelry, wooden products, furniture, agricultural products and cuisine...
Within the framework of the event, the Laos-Vietnam Trade and Investment Promotion Conference also took place.
This is one of the important events in the cooperation chain between Ho Chi Minh City and Savannakhet province to
create opportunities for businesses of the two countries to meet, exchange, and learn about investment attraction policies,
as well as priority areas for investment attraction from specialized agencies of the two sides.
The event is expected to open up many new opportunities for promoting trade and investment, contributing to further
tightening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos./.
