According to ESOMAR market research:

HANOI - Vietnam will be hit by a severe cold spell in February, with cold weather expected to last for a long time, meteorologists warned on Saturday.

Tran The Tru, deputy director of the Climate Forecasting Department at the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological

Forecasting, said the cold air flow will continue to affect the weather across the country.

These weather systems are expected to be stronger than average, especially in the second half of the month,

leading to persistent cold weather in northern regions.

"Throughout the month, average temperatures across Vietnam will be close to historical averages. However,

temperatures in the north and central regions will be 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius lower than the seasonal average," Chuc said.

Rainfall is expected to be similar to previous years, except in central Vietnam, where rainfall could exceed historical

averages by 10-20 mm. The central region may also see scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms this month.

Chuuk warned that a number of extreme weather events could occur across the country, including fog, thunderstorms,

 lightning, ice and white frost.

At sea, the cold front could cause strong winds and large waves, posing a danger to maritime activities. On land,

the prolonged cold spell could affect livestock, crops and public health, especially in the northern mountainous regions,

where frost and frost are possible.

"The fog reduces visibility and increases the risk of traffic accidents," she warned.

Authorities advise people to check the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting website and

official media channels for the latest weather forecasts.

Local authorities and disaster management agencies have been urged to promptly issue weather warnings,

enforce safety regulations, and restrict access to areas at high risk of thunderstorms and lightning strikes.
