Six days of Tet holiday: 308 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 137 people
On January 30 (the second day of Tet), there were 50 traffic accidents nationwide,
killing 25 people and injuring 50 people, all of which occurred on roads.
According to the Traffic Police Department, during the 6 days of the Lunar New Year holiday
(from January 25 to January 30), there were 308 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 137 people
and injuring 257 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there was a decrease of 189 cases (38.03%),
a decrease of 101 deaths (42.44%), and a decrease of 167 injuries (39.39%).
Of these, 306 traffic accidents occurred on roads, killing 136 people and injuring 256 people.
Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 189 fewer cases (38.18%), 101 fewer deaths (42.62%),
and 167 fewer injuries (39.48%).
There was 1 traffic accident on the railway line, injuring 1 person. Compared to the same period in 2024,
there was 1 less case (50.0%), 1 less death (100%), and the number of injuries did not increase or decrease.
There was 1 traffic accident on the inland waterway route, killing 1 person, an increase of 1 case (100%),
an increase of 1 death (100%) compared to the same period in 2024.
On January 30 alone, there were 50 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 25 people and injuring 50 people,
all of which occurred on roads, a decrease of 41 cases, 9 deaths, and 31 injuries compared to the same period in 2024.
Through patrol and control work, during this Tet holiday, the national traffic police force inspected, detected,
and handled 37,868 violations; detained 268 cars, 12,645 motorbikes, and 320 other vehicles; revoked 2,017 driving
licenses of all types, and deducted points from 4,105 driving licenses.
There were 10,138 violations of alcohol concentration; 9,128 violations of speed; 93 cases of overloading;
309 cases of carrying more people than the prescribed number; and 66 cases of drug violations.
To ensure safety for people during the Lunar New Year 2025, traffic police forces nationwide have increased
their combat force by 100%, making continuous efforts to ensure traffic safety for people.
The Traffic Police Department has directed local traffic police to strengthen traffic guidance, regulation,
and inter-provincial coordination to ensure smooth traffic.
In particular, the Traffic Police of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City proactively coordinate with neighboring provinces
to ensure smooth traffic on routes in and out of the city, especially routes from Hanoi to the southern provinces
and from Ho Chi Minh City to the western provinces. Thanks to this effort, despite the increase in traffic volume,
traffic was still orderly, safe and without congestion.
On January 29 and 30 (the first and second days of Tet), the streets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were
deserted and clear, with vehicles moving smoothly. Despite the sparse number of vehicles, road users still
strictly complied with the law on traffic order and safety./.
