Support 4,000 Vietnamese enterprises to develop green business models.
Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment revealed that in 2024, in line with the new development trend of sustainable business,
the Ministry will actively mobilize the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP),
the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)...
With the support of international organizations, a number of activities have been implemented to help enterprises
apply green, circular and inclusive business models.
Vietnam's cooperation framework with international partners has achieved many encouraging results,
notably the development of an assessment index system to measure the readiness of enterprises in applying circular economy,
social and corporate governance (ESG), inclusive business (IB). . The cooperation has raised awareness of sustainable
business and provided technical support activities to about 4,000 enterprises. At the same time,
an influential business consulting network with more than 100 members has been formed;
continuing to implement the ESG Vietnam initiative, which has attracted nearly 400 participating companies to date.
As the agency in charge of supporting digital transformation of enterprises, the Ministry of Planning and Investment
also coordinates with ministries, branches, localities and associations to implement policies to support enterprises.
At the same time, mobilizing international resources to directly train nearly 14,200 enterprises.
When enterprises face many difficulties, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund of the Ministry of Planning
and Investment has lowered lending interest rates by another 2%. In 2024, the fund will sign an indirect lending
framework contract with 3 commercial banks, increasing the number of commercial banks cooperating with the fund to 9 banks.
Regarding promoting innovation and startups, in 2024, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung
will visit the United States for the first time on behalf of the Government and directly negotiate with leading
semiconductor companies. Through this visit, the United States agreed to support Vietnam in implementing
training projects to improve Vietnam's capacity in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence and
participating in the global value chain. Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that in 2025, the Ministry of Planning
and Investment will continue to research and direct the development of new economic models, new industries and fields,
creating new growth drivers, catching up with world development trends as soon as possible.
The immediate priority is to effectively implement projects such as building regional and international financial centers,
free trade zones in some places, developing circular economy and sharing economy, cultivating talents in the semiconductor industry,
striving to catch up with the development of innovation and creativity, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, etc.
